Lousy Riders ride again with their fantastic sophomore release entitled “End Of Light”. The duo hails from Toronto, Canada and is comprised of Snow on vocals/guitar and Chris on drums. “End Of Light” is an awesome progression from 2017’s “Orphans” album and sees the band getting into a more moody and atmospheric vibe. There’s still the signature heavy as hell wall of sound and thundering drums and Snow’s voice is absolutely incredible. Her voice is huge, booming, beautiful, and full of immense soul and conviction. On track 5 called “Monster”, her voice is so haunting and gorgeous that it gave me goose bumps as is the intro to the opening track “Black Box”. “Mountain Quell” and “Kill My Young” are probably some of the coolest song titles I’ve ever seen. The songs all hover around a lurching mid-tempo stomp and contain huge grooves that sink their talons deep into your audio receptors. There’s some really great dynamics, nuances, and textures throughout and the album is best served at a cranked volume. I had the pleasure of meeting and hangin out with Snow in Toronto in 2018 and we had a great time chatting. She is an ultra-cool, talented, and intelligent girl. The album has been on repeat on my stereo for the past few days and I love it more and more with each subsequent listen.
